Bonapeti: London's Healthiest Delivery Service
Londoners rejoice (well, those of us with a NW, SW, W or central postcode anyway) as there is a new ridiculously healthy takeaway in town. The team at Bonapeti recently asked me to try a selection of their delicious cheffy plant based dishes couriered straight to your door, and funnily enough, I agreed.
With a crack team of ex-Ottolenghi, Fat Duck and other Michelin starred chefs at the helm, gourmet but good-for-you meals including squash noodles with sesame miso dressing, courgette with sundried tomato and walnut pesto and chilli marinated roasted pineapple can be yours at the click of a button.
The food has a strong emphasis on world cuisine, with the majority of it being plant based, which means it really packs a nutritional punch. Vegans and veggies are exceptionally well catered for, as are dairy and gluten intolerants. I am none of these things, but still found the Salsify tandoori with brown rice chickpea pilaf and coconut chutney (341 cals for 510g) to be completely yummy; as did my staunchly non-health-freakish friend. As with many foods that swap out dairy and gluten, you do need to watch the calorie count (if you do such things) as the alternatives tend to be nut based which means you are really paying for it in kcals. For example, a chocolate pudding with poached bananas that came along was a whopping 1126lkcal per 315g serving...!
Here's the delish tandoori:
This unassuming little side salad also achieved rapturous applause from my fellow diners thanks to the pot of sunflower seed pesto:
It's a great idea for #meatfreemonday, if like me you get a complete mind blank each week and end up ordering something very much not meat free out of desperation. Options like brazilian red pepper feijoada and corn cakes make it easy not to mindlessly chow down on an uninspiring chicken breast. If you call by 10am they will do same day delivery.
The nice people at Bonapeti have given me a code for 40% off until 27th Feb, so get ordering with BON201502 at www.bonapeti.com.
