Cheese class at Neal's Yard

My husband was the lucky recipient of a Neal's Yard Dairy gift voucher, and rather than simply purchasing enough excellent British Isles cheese to send ourselves off to a happy but imminent artery clogged death, he (read: we) promptly signed up for one of their cheese classes.

If you check their website there's a running list of different themed classes, mostly held upstairs at their delicious Borough Market shop. We went for the 'cheesemongers lunch' one Saturday, which cost £50/head (ps you definitely need to book ahead, and quite far in some instances).

This is what greeted us...

Heavenly.

One of the experts at the Dairy talked us through a selection of six (AMAZING) artisan cheeses, all imaginatively matched with anything from medjool dates to fabulous charcuterie and handmade chutneys - all sourced from Borough Market below and the locale. The glasses of cremant (current hot fave of mine), port and Normandy cider went down a treat alongside.

Here's the detail of what we actually ate on the day:

Each board was between roughly 3-4 people and oh my goodness it was a lot.

This is the face of a man who enjoys an exorbitant amount of cheese, yet almost couldn't face the last tasting. Believe.

Any fellow cheese fans should advance immediately to Neal's Yard and purchase a significant slab of Stichelton (a raw milk version of Stilton) and a St Cera (one of the most remarkable and changeable cheeses I've tried).

Happy cheeseboarding.
