Hell's Kitchen: Sardine Spaghetti
This is a recipe for when your cupboards are beyond bare; in the same way as Spaghetti Puttanesca (aka 'slut's spaghetti') this uses only a handful of storecupboard ingredients and nothing fresh - its so called because supposedly only a slut (in the household sense!) would do such a thing. This was yest again made in my few hours of crazy cooking when I realised I was about to be completely kitchen-less for the forseeable. I didn't even have the ingredients for Puttanesca on this occasion, so made this up instead using an ancient old can of sardines of all things, and it turned out to be really good. I portioned it up and froze it and it was still good reheated, though the spaghetti was a bit claggy. It's also ridiculously quick to make.
You will need:
Spaghetti
Olive Oil
Can of sardines
Tomato puree
Minced garlic from a tube!
Chilli
Lemon juice
Parsley if you have it
Splash of white wine
Get your spaghetti boiling whilst you cook off about 1/2 a tube of tomato puree or passata in a saucepan with plenty of olive oil, and the garlic. Add the wine and let evaporate over a high heat. Then add everything else and stir it into the pasta. That's it. You're welcome.
We had it with a prepared Caesar salad again because I'm really into them at the moment.
